Marionette
Brigit Aine

As he walked past the department store window, Steve was dumbstruck, his jaw fell open and his heart skipped a beat. There she was, the perfect woman. Flawless alabaster skin, striking platinum hair, the darkest green eyes he had ever seen. She was dressed in trendy clothes, cute jean Capri’s and a tank top with coloured swirls on it that matched her eyes. It was almost as if she had been plucked out of every dream he ever had. Walking closer to the store window to get a better look Steve was disappointed to see she had strings attached to her, she wasn’t real at all. His sense of loss was so deep and profound that he felt his heart break. How could she not be real? She was everything he was looking for. There was no way that someone this perfect to his image wasn’t real. Going in to the store he walked over to the display to see her close up. A doll, a life-sized marionette.

The Purrfect Man
Ashley Marie Lucas

Gia was pacing back and forth. It was bad enough that she had given into the pressure and had hired a date for tonight. His being late was only adding insult to injury. She was having second and maybe even third thoughts about attending the engagement party with its Halloween theme. That was an odd theme for an engagement party but then again, her cousin Madeline was a bit different not to mention spoiled. Ahhh yes dear cousin Madeline, the bane of her existence. The fact that she was about to marry Gia’s ex fiancé Brian only added strain to what was already a strained relationship. Oh not about the ex fiancé part, yes that was awkward but did it have to be to Madeline?

THINGS THAT GO PUMP IN THE NIGHT
Cynthia MacGregor

Starting way back when she was fifteen, Amy had had a crush on Burt. The tall, lean, sandy-haired fellow, then twenty-one and still a bit gangly, was her brother, Ed’s, best friend. Burt and Ed had gone to school together, studied for two years at the community college together, taken jobs at the aircraft factory together, and four years later, enlisted in the Air Force together.
It was after that that their paths diverged, Ed remaining Stateside while Burt was shipped overseas. Ironically, however, the injury that led to Burt’s discharge resulted not from enemy fire nor even from friendly fire, but from a literal fire—a fire that raged through the mess hall where Burt, who had pulled KP duty, was hard at work. Instead of saving his own hide when the fire broke out, however, he stayed behind to rescue two others, who had been knocked unconscious by the explosion that had started the fire. That bit of devotion to his comrades-in-arms had cost him dearly: He’d been burned all over, but his right leg took the worst of it, and even after intensive rehab he was pronounced not fit for further service and sent home with a medal.

  1. I happen to Love WEREWOLVES... I like all Shifters.. Vamps, Cats and Bears too.. I would love to read more books about mixing breeds.. Not a lot of them out there.. I'm not really sick if any Paranormals as of yet... As for your last question. I read the storyline if it sounds like something I won't be able to put down I have to get it.. If it's GOOD. I'll get them ALL... :-)

  2. My favorite genre is probably fantasy, but I am a sci-fi and historical fan, too. I would like to see more "scary" paranormals, I suppose. I am sick of paranormal/human pairings. As a fantasy reader, I don't mind at all mixing two different races or species, but only if they are both "normal" for their setting. Or both unusual. It's just the normal/paranormal pairings that are getting old for me. I try authors I have never heard of based either upon recommendations or upon the blurbs. (Of course, as a reviewer, I get a lot of new authors that way, too.)

  3. What is your favorite genre and why? I love reading shifter stories, because of the alpha character.
What paranormal creatures would you like to see more of? I've only read a handful of cat shifters, like pumas, lynx, etc.
What paranormal pairings are you sick of? I don't think I can get sick of paranormal characters :)
What makes you try an author you have never heard of before? Reading a blurb that really gets my attention and a hot cover for their story.

  4. Great questions, Ashley!
My favorite genre is contemporary erotic romance because I love the complexity of modern life.
Paranormal creature I'd like to see more of--wolf shifters, but that's just me :)
And I'll try any new author as long as their voice and style capture me in the excerpt! Happy Halloween!

  7. My favorite genre is contemporary erotic. I also enjoy BDSM & PNR.
I was just introduced to the dragon shifter. Would love to see more of them.
Have not gotten tired of any PNR pairings. If a story is good, there is no getting tired of it.
If a story line sounds great & the cover art really grabs me, I will try a new author.

favorite genre - paranormal romance especially shifters - wolves being the fave so far there are no pairings that i have gotten tired of and if the excerpt captures me then i am willing to give an author a try!

  11. I love historicals, contemporary or shifter/fantasies. Hard to pick just one, lol Usually, an excerpt will capture my attention and I feel compelled to buy it.

  12. What is your favorite genre and why?
I most enjoy mystery/suspense/thriller...I love to escape and these books seem to pull me in the most!

What paranormal creatures would you like to see more of?
Actually, I think I most enjoy humans doing paranormal things...although I'm not sure that is what you intended with the question...LOL!

What paranormal pairings are you sick of? It's not so much the "pairing" but I think the vampire activity went too broadly when some mainstream authors jumped into a different genre just because it was "the time" for vampires...

What makes you try an author you have never heard of before? Actually, almost all of the books I read are by authors I've never heard of. Therefore, for me, it is the concept/blurb--if the book doesn't sound interesting, I sure do... hesitate...

Hope I didn't go too far afield...first time here based upon your notice at Reviewers Roundup...Best wishes for your Halloween activity!

  13. What is your favorite genre and why?I love shifter stories. The hotter, the better.

What paranormal creatures would you like to see more of? I would love to see more DRAGON Shifters.

What paranormal pairings are you sick of? I'm not sick of any yet.

What makes you try an author you have never heard of before? I'll try a new author if the cover of the book, the blurb and/or the excerpt capture my attention. That's how I found some of my favorite authors.

Having a blast hopping with you! It’s great visiting with old friends and finding new authors and books to add to my wish list. <^_^>

Thank you for being part of the hop AND for the chance to win!

  14. I can't name a favorite genre. I read many different ones.
I'd like to see mow angels.
I'm not sick of any of the paraanormals.
Sometimes, it's the blurb or a review.

  15. My favorite genre is the erotic romance and all the sub genre's.
My favorite paranormal are the wolfshifter's. It is because I have a passion for the wolves and always have. It's the reason why we moved to Alaska, and now live on a mountain with a roaming wolf pack visits now and again. There nothing more stirring than a pack of wolves howling to one another in the evening to give me the good kind of goosebumps. *S*
    Dragons are my other favorite.
I love the animal shifter's of all kinds after the wolves.
But I would love to perhaps see wolves paired with maybe a dragon?
I'm kinda tired of the vampires pairings.
I like tring new authors I haven't read before if the excerpts have strong character depths. One demensional characters are boring, and I want an emotional connection to the characters. I want emotional reads...*S

  16. What is your favorite genre and why? Shifters, doesn't matter which kind.

What paranormal creatures would you like to see more of? Just recently read a book with Centaur shifters, hadn't come across that type before & would like more.

What paranormal pairings are you sick of? I think they are all fabulous & since I read a wide variety none have worn out their welcome.

What makes you try an author you have never heard of before? Sometimes it's the cover, sometimes it's the blurb, but most often it's a review on another authors blog.

    Thanks for having the giveaway.

  17. Favorite genre? Hard question. I love regencies and paranormal (especially time travel)
Regencies are in an era of utmost society rules and customs. Time travel takes you to places either back or forward in time. Both are fascinating to visit.

I'd like to see more shapeshifters...in different forms than the usual ones given.

Sick of vampires and werewolves, all pair combinations.

I'll try an author based on cover and blurb. The book has to grab my attention.

  18. I tend to read nothing but paranormal so I guess that's my fav, they are a great way to escape reality.

    Dragons.. or dragon shifters!!!

believe it or not I'm not really sick of any pairings.

A lot of different things will get me to read an author I've never heard of... hearing someone else say it was good, a blurb or excerpt that interest me, and heck I am not ashamed to admit sometimes the cover sucks me in LOL.

Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  19. I'd have to say that my favorite genre is a toss up between Paranormal and BDSM. I love a hunky furry hero who gets the girl. I like the way a good BDSM book makes my brain work. I think I'd like to see more dragon shifters. Hmmm, I don't think there are any pairings that I'm totally sick of.
The cover mostly grabs my attention to a new author. Then I'll read the blurb, then I'll get the book.

  21. My favorite genre is paranormal romance. It is such an incredible fantasy world, with all those super dominant alpha males!

I love werewolves and any other type of sleek, sexy shifters. More, more, and more shifters for me please!!

I'm not really sick of any pairings, it's usually all good when they get together.

What makes me try a new author is the cover of a book, the blurb about the book and usually I will check reviews. Even if there are some bad reviews, it doesn't really hinder me from trying a new author. You know the saying about opinions!!

I have found more authors that I like recently by going through blog hops! It's a great tool to visit new authors.

What paranormal pairings are you sick of?
    None. I love all paranormals.

What makes you try an author you have never heard of before?
A book cover catches my attention. The book's blurb intrigues me. The first chapter sells me. On a friend's recommendation.

  24. I like pretty much anything romance. I would like to see more of maybe male fairies or elves. Not the miniature kind. I love vamps, but something a bit different would be good. I don't think I've read enough paranormal to be sick of any pairings yet. If it's well written, they can pair the same thing over & over. I will try a new author if it's free, I've read an excerpt & the story & writing are good & if I get a recommendation. I know the free one sounds kind of cheesy, but I wanted to tell the truth. If it turns out to be bad writing, I won't continue, though. I haven't really had to quit though.
    Thanks! Gloria
